What it is

A ten-minute session in a vertical booth fitted with UVA and UVB lamps alongside collagen lamps. Standing up means no pressure points from shoulder blades or heels, so the colour comes out even.

We are going to be straight with you about this one. The collagen lamps emit visible red and pink light and no UV. The tanning lamps emit UV, and UV is the part that tans you. UV exposure carries a real, documented risk of skin ageing and skin cancer, and no amount of pleasant lighting changes that. If you use this, use it knowingly and use it sparingly.

Why people use it

Even colour

Ten minutes, standing, no pressure points.

The collagen lamps

Visible red and pink light with no UV, commonly used in beauty for skin tone and texture.

Winter

A lot of members book this in the darkest months. That is the honest reason people come.

Before a holiday

Some people build a base. It is not sun protection and it does not replace sunscreen.

How a session works

Talk to us first time

We will look at your skin type with you and set a sensible starting time. A session is ten minutes. Two can be booked back to back, but that is twenty minutes of UV and it is not where anyone should start.

Undress and apply lotion

The booth is private. Bring tan lotion if you use it.

Eye protection on

Goggles are available to buy and you can bring your own. Closing your eyes is not the same as protecting them.

Ten minutes

Standing, turning is not necessary.

Moisturise afterwards

Skin holds colour better when it is not dry.

What to bring

As little as you like, the booth is private. Bring tan lotion if you use it, and eye protection every single time.

Straight answers

What we know.
What we don’t.

Reasonably established

  • UVA and UVB lamps produce ultraviolet light, which is what causes a tan.
  • Collagen lamps emit visible red and pink light with no UV, and are used in beauty for skin tone and texture.
  • Standing gives more even coverage than lying down.

Still open, or simply not true

  • UV exposure is a documented risk factor for skin ageing and skin cancer. Nothing about the collagen lamps offsets that.
  • There is no such thing as a safe tan from UV, and a base tan is not meaningful sun protection.
  • If you are looking for skin benefits without UV, red light therapy is the session you want instead.

Safety & screening

This is a UV service. The rules below are not decoration, and our team will hold you to them.

  • You must be 18 or over
  • Do not use it if you are pregnant
  • Do not use it if you have a personal or family history of skin cancer or melanoma
  • Do not use it if you have many moles, or any mole that has changed
  • Do not use it if you burn easily and rarely tan
  • Do not use it with a photosensitive condition such as lupus or polymorphic light eruption
  • Do not use it on medication that increases light sensitivity, including some antibiotics, retinoids and diuretics – check with your pharmacist
  • Do not use it if you have used a sunbed elsewhere in the last 24 hours, or have been in strong sun that day
  • Do not use it after recent laser treatment, peels or other skin procedures
  • Never more than one session per day, and always with eye protection

This list is a starting point, not medical advice. Freezlab does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. When you create an account you also confirm a general health declaration, which covers this list plus a few blanket conditions that apply to every session: any infectious disease, any chronic or acute illness in the last six months, and medication that affects your alertness or fitness to drive. If you are being treated for anything, ask your doctor before you book.

Collagen Tanning questions

No. They are separate lamps doing separate things. The UV is still UV.
Less often than you probably want to. In a maintenance phase, once a week is normal. More than that is not something we will encourage.
No.
Yes. Always. A base tan is not protection.
Yes, and it is called Red Light Therapy. If skin is your goal, book that instead.

Reset. Recover.
Repeat.
